An Actual Likeness!

I concentrated on the shadows for this painting, and did very little underdrawing. I like the effect and the likeness. And I like that it shows my new, hard-won and tenuous inner peace.

This is incredibly good (whatever ‘good’ is! maybe I should say I like it a lot?) πŸ™‚ The differences in shades and lights and darks make for a painting that is brimful with character. I think it’s a nod to your skill that perhaps the bit that ‘makes’ it, is your right cheek where you left it with no paint at all! I still haven’t tried watercolours for any more than a quick dabble, but I shall come back and study this again and have a go at a selfie myself without drawing and with a limited palette, as this really is inspiring me. Good too for the inner peace, however tenuous. Oh and, Yay You! πŸ˜€
