I’ve said it before, but the drawings I do blind (by which I mean the ones where I don’t look at the page) are by far my favourites. There’s something about the inability to correct and edit that gives the blind portraits a real authenticity.
No, my head isn’t that long. Yes, those ears look more like Mr. Spock’s than mine. No, my head isn’t that wide at the top. But does that really matter?
Because many of my more accurate likenesses are lifeless, over-edited, cautious. This one has none of those problems.
